For the first time in its history, Red Bull Symphonic will feature two headlining artists on a single stage, marking a significant evolution for the live music platform. Set to take place on 13 June 2026 at Montecasino in Johannesburg, this year’s edition brings together Sun-El Musician and Dlala Thukzin for a large-scale orchestral reinterpretation of their work.
Titled Afro House, Our Home, the 2026 showcase shifts its focus to house music and its enduring influence on South Africa’s broader musical landscape. As a foundational genre, house has informed the development of multiple local styles, including kwaito, gqom and amapiano. This year’s concept positions the genre not only as a point of origin, but as an evolving cultural force.
Sun-El Musician, known for his expansive, melodic approach to Afro-house, brings a catalogue that has achieved both commercial success and cultural resonance. His debut album Africa to the World reached Apple Music’s Top 200 Electronic Albums globally, with standout singles becoming mainstays across radio and streaming platforms.
In contrast, Dlala Thukzin represents a more high-energy, genre-blending approach. Emerging from Durban’s gqom scene, he has built a reputation as a dynamic performer, with a growing global footprint supported by millions of streams and international recognition.
Bridging these two sonic worlds is conductor Chad Hendricks, whose experience across classical and contemporary music positions him to translate both artists’ catalogues into a cohesive orchestral experience.
By bringing together two distinct yet complementary voices, Red Bull Symphonic 2026 expands its format while reinforcing its core idea: reimagining modern African music within a symphonic context.
